The Adoor Police Sub Division is in existence for the last
nearly 4 decades. Earlier this Sub Division was part of Kollam district. When
Pathanamthitta district came into existence since 1-7-1983, Adoor Sub Division
became part of Pathanamthitta District.
Adoor Sub Division consists
of 6 Police stations coming under 3 Circles. Adoor, Pandalam and Konny are three
circles. Adoor Circle Inspector is the Station House Officer(SHO) of Adoor
police station. Pandalam circle consist of Pandalam and Kodumon Police stations.
Konny circle consist of Konny, Koodal and Thannithode Police stations.
Places of historical and Tourist importance in Adoor Sub Division
The Late Veluthampi Dalava, the famous Diwan of Travancore, Who fought against
the British for India’s freedom ended his life in Mannadi, When British soldiers
surrounded him. The Govt. of Kerala acquired 1 acre and 27 cents of land at the
death place of Veluthampi Delava and a monument is constructed there. It is also
proposed to construct the statue of Delava there. Mannadi is within Adoor police
station limit – 10 Km aay from Adoor town.
The Valiakoickal Sastha temple and the palace where Lord Ayyappa is believed to
be born and brought up is situated at Pandalam Police station limit. During the
Sabarimala season large number of Ayyappa pilgrims visit thetemple and it is
considered as an “Edathavalam” for the Sabarimala pilgrims.
Konny elephant cage is also a place of tourist attraction where at present 8
elephants including 4 child elephants are there.
