Crime detachment unit, Pathanamthitta had started functioning from 07-03-1996. This unit is headed by a DySP. This unit investigates cases specially entrusted to it by the Supdt. of Police, Pathanamthitta and other superiors. Dy.S.P Crime detachment will visit scene of occurrence and supervise the investigation in important cases in atrocities against women as per PHQ circular no. 11/96. Dy.S.P Crime detachment is the “District Juvenile Child Welfare Officer” as per PHQ circular no. 15/2002. Dy.S.P Crime detachment is the head of the special squad constituted to check the activities of the extremist groups and to strictly enforce the provisions of the Explosive Act, Explosive Substance Act and Arms Act as per the PHQ Circular no. 7/98. District women cell is working under Crime Detachment.
